News from the Munich gastronomic scene – Munich

Training with a star chef has always been a highlight for people who like to cook themselves and have high expectations of themselves. And vouchers for a cooking course are very popular gifts. However, there are now few offers here. Alfons Schuhbeck used to have his own cooking school with an extensive course program, but for obvious reasons nothing is happening at the moment. Hans Haas, legendary head chef at Tantris, is enjoying his retirement. His courses in his own studio in the Amalienpassage were long considered the best in Munich and were quickly booked up.

When I finally got on the list, incognito, Corona suddenly hit and the course was cancelled. After that, Haas stopped offering courses. In his former cooking school, the star chef Jürgen Wolfgruber from the Sparkling Bistro, the daytime restaurant Das Tschecherl has now opened, but also offers cooking courses there from time to time on request. At least! Dates are planned for July and November during truffle season, more details can be found soon on the Sparkling Bistro homepage.

The need is obviously there. Last Friday, the two-star chef announced Tohru Nakamura in his newsletter a cooking course with menu and drinks in his Writing for 480 euros per person. Within a day, all the places were taken. Now he and his team are considering repeating the event. But then again, they will have to be quick. Something similar has happened with Bobby Brauer, also two Michelin stars, to report. The head chef of the dining room in the BMW Welt occasionally gives cooking courses Gaggenau showroom in the east of Munich. The next one in June is already fully booked, and more cooking courses may follow in the fall. Also the colleague Mario Gamba (one star) occasionally offers cooking classes in his restaurant Acquarello ( www.acquarello.com ).

The delivery service Lieferando is now venturing together with Regensburg’s top chef Anton Schmaus, who is also the team chef for the German national football team, at gourmet cuisine. Since Tuesday he has activated the “Fine Dining” category for Munich. Schmaus has five dishes to start with: tuna tartare, chickpea salad, braised veal cheek, beetroot curry and sucuk pasta. The dishes in the Munich luxury hotel The Charles are prepared by the local kitchen team led by the head chef Thomas Beiglboeck. The gourmet dishes, which cost between 18 and 38 euros, should be delivered in special packaging within 35 minutes ( www.lieferando.de ).
