The director of a French school in the principality of Andorra was arrested in the small Pyrenean state for having distributed child pornography images, we learned on Friday from the Andorran police and the rectorate. After being questioned by the police, the 59-year-old man was transferred to the Andorra La Vella court, where he was indicted.
Late Friday, he was detained in the prison of Andorra la Vella, the capital of the principality. A search was carried out by the police at the French teacher’s home, where various electronic devices were seized, said a police press release.
Dismissed from National Education
Like others in Andorra, the school run by the suspect is an establishment under the French Ministry of National Education.
“If the investigation establishes the facts, the director will be dismissed by National Education,” the Montpellier rectorate, responsible for Andorra, told AFP, specifying that a teacher from the school had been appointed to serve as school principal.
“Faced with the legitimate concern of the students’ families, the delegate for French education in Andorra immediately wrote to them by email to assure them of his support and reassure them,” he added.
