60 gigabytes for 15 euros in the Vodafone network: Freenet tariff in check

60 gigabytes (GB) of data volume in Vodafone’s LTE network for just 15 euros – this deal is currently attracting Freenet smartphone users. Sounds like a good offer, but is it?

Fast internet and a large data volume – that’s what many people who are looking for a new cell phone tariff want. Freenet’s current deal for the Green LTE tariff in the Vodafone network sounds like a good choice. For 14.99 euros, users with this tariff can surf the LTE network mobile with a whopping 60 GB per month. This should be particularly interesting for power surfers who regularly run out of data volume in their previous tariff at the end of the month.

Current Freenet promotion: 60 gigabytes of data volume for 15 euros

The data volume of 60 GB offered here is not to be sniffed at and should be more than enough for normal users. For example, it is enough to stream 30 hour-long videos in Full HD quality. The price is also convincing: Normally, this tariff on Freenet costs 51.99 euros per month. The current monthly price of just under 15 euros is therefore discounted by over 70 percent. However, there is also a small drawback: users with this tariff do not have the fast 5G wireless standard on the network. According to Freenet, the maximum transmission speed is 100 Mbit/s. But that’s not bad and sometimes more than what many internet connections in your own four walls provide.

The details at a glance:

  • 60 GB LTE data volume (max. 100 Mbit/s)
  • Vodafone network
  • Telephone and SMS flat rate
  • Connection price: 19.99 euros
  • Basic charge: 14.99 euros per month (instead of 51.99 euros)
  • Minimum contract term: 24 Months

Anyone who surfs the internet a lot on mobile devices and sometimes uses larger amounts of data by streaming videos or playing more demanding games will definitely get a good deal with the reduced Freenet tariff. The only limitation is the maximum download rate of 100 Mbit/s – although this is unlikely to be noticeable in everyday life. However, with very large amounts of data, a difference is noticeable. Downloading a GB at 100 Mbps on the LTE network takes about 80 seconds. With 300 Mbit/s in a 5G network, however, only 26 seconds. And if you don’t want to be contractually tied to a provider for a long time, the minimum contract term of two years means you have little flexibility to change.

An alternative in the fast 5G network: the tariff at o2

But if a little more speed is desired and users are currently looking for a new tariff together with their partner – o2 currently has an interesting combination deal in its portfolio: for selected tariffs, the monthly price drops by half if two or more contracts are concluded. The o2 Mobile M tariff with 25 GB of data volume in the 5G network with up to 300 Mbit/s costs 29.99 euros individually. However, if the tariff is ordered twice, the monthly costs are only 14.99 euros each. Potential customers get two contracts for the price of one.

The details at a glance:

  • From 25 GB 4G LTE/5G data volume (max. 300 Mbit/s)
  • 50 percent discount for at least two tariffs
  • At least five GB of additional monthly data volume every year
  • Connection price: 39.99 euros
  • Basic charge: for two tariffs 14.99 euros instead of 29.99 euros per o2 tariff Mobile M
  • Minimum contract term: 24 Months

With 60 GB of data volume for 14.99 euros, the Freenet deal currently offers good value for money and can be interesting for frequent surfers. However, users there only use Vodafone’s LTE network. Anyone who values a fast 5G network and currently even uses two or more tariffs should take the o2 combination offer into closer consideration.
