After months of discussion about Taurus deliveries to Ukraine, criticism of the “no” vote is growing in Germany. But there are differences based on party preference.

For months there has been discussion about whether Germany Ukraine should or should not deliver so-called “Taurus cruise missiles” with a range of several hundred kilometers.

Only 37 percent of Germans are currently in favor of such a delivery. This is the result of a representative Forsa survey commissioned by RTL on Monday. Nine percent more than in March. This is the result of a representative Forsa survey commissioned by RTL on Monday. A slim majority continues to reject a delivery: 56 percent of German citizens.

Taurus cruise missiles have a range of more than 500 kilometers. This would allow them to reach Russian territory from Ukraine and destroy weapons depots and command centers. Chancellor Olaf Scholz strictly rejects supplying Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles. He fears that Germany would also have to provide soldiers – and would thus be drawn into the war.

According to the survey, Green voters are in favor of delivery

Green Party supporters in particular want to send the rockets to Ukraine. The majority of SPD and FDP voters reject the delivery, while Union supporters are divided. Voters from BSW and the AfD speak out most vehemently against this.

The USA announced last week that it would deliver short-range missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers to Ukraine. International pressure on the federal government has been growing ever since.
