News from the Munich gastronomic scene – Munich

The first months of the year are traditionally the weaker ones in the catering industry, but things pick up again in spring. Yes, there are even new openings! A rather unusual one is that of Restaurants for a while far out in the west of the city. The Bergson art power plant is now opening there after several years of renovation work, and the cuisine is also important there. For a while, Christopher Engel, previously Executive Chef at the Hotel Vier Saisonn, has been cooking carefully ambitious regional cuisine if we interpret the menu correctly.

The Anima day bar (the name was probably stolen from the great psychologist CG Jung?) won’t open for another two weeks (Restaurant Zeitlang in the Bergson-Kunstfabrik, Rupert-Bodner-Straße 5, daily from 6 p.m., day bar Anima, daily from April 20th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., www.bergson.com/gastronomy). The new one won’t be quite as spectacular Café Mari on the corner of Adlzreiterstrasse and Zenettistrasse near the slaughterhouse. It is an offshoot of the Goldmarie on Schmellerstrasse. The Mari is currently still busy with the soft opening, as they say. In terms of cuisine and drinks, Mari is the little sister of Goldmarie (Café Mari, Adlzreiterstraße 36). And Rico Birndtwho brought a Michelin star to the Mural Farmhouse last year, has just got his own in his home region of Lake Chiemsee Restaurant June opened, with its very own world cuisine. Based on what we know about it, it is definitely worth a trip in spring (Restaurant June, Seestraße 10, 83236 Übersee, Wednesday to Saturday, 6 p.m. – midnight, www.june.restaurant).

Another Munich cultural center next to the Bergson is the Obersendlinger Sugar Mountain in the former Katzenberger concrete factory, an interim use project. This is the third time this weekend Street Food Festival instead of. The offerings range from authentic Latin American cuisine to traditional African dishes, Korean Korn Dogs and Jamaican soup food. From Chile to Israel to Senegal, numerous national cuisines are represented, but new food trends are also presented. The organizers promise that there will be enough for three days. There is also live music. A make-up corner, table football and reading and drawing tables will be set up for the youngest children (Street Food Festival, Sugar Mountain, Helfenriederstraße 12, Friday to Sunday, April 5th – 7th, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m., 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. and 12 p.m. – 8 p.m., entry four euros, www.sugarmountain-munich.com).
