Guide Michelin 2023: These are Bavaria’s star restaurants – Bavaria

From

Katharina Blum, Franz Kotteder and Michael Schnippert

In 2022, more top chefs have cooked up a Michelin star for their restaurant than ever before. In the new edition of the “Guide Michelin” restaurant guide, 334 gourmet restaurants nationwide have received awards – the previous year’s record (327) has thus been topped.

The gourmet restaurants in Bavaria also did well again last year. Munich has been awarded a total of 24 stars, plus another 63 in the rest of the Free State.

Who won stars in Bavaria

Christian Jurgens three stars from the Überfahrt restaurant in Rottach-Egern am Tegernsee for the tenth time in a row. His colleague Thomas Kellerman from the gourmet restaurant Dichter, also in Rottach-Egern, received two stars – as at his previous station, Wernberg Castle in the Upper Palatinate, where he was head chef until 2018 (as Jürgens’ successor, by the way).

The biggest crash suffered Residence Heinz Winkler: Following the death of the legendary chef last October, Michelin downgraded the restaurant from two stars to zero. They are newly represented with a star in the Michelin solo you (Bischofswiesen), that Gourmet restaurant in the Karner (Frasdorf), that tisane (Nuremberg), the Wachter food bar (Prien am Chiemsee) and the Inn Alex (Weissenbrunn).
