The chat lock should have a “additional protection for very personal conversations” offer. This new function is particularly suitable for people who share their phone with other people, for example other family members. Or for situations in which another person is holding the phone in their hand and a special chat message comes in. According to the company, the new function should be available immediately.
Blocked chats are moved from the inbox to their own folder. They can only be unlocked with the device password or using biometric data such as the fingerprint of the owner. In order to block a chat, one has to tap on the name of the contact or group and select the “Block” option.
The company also announced more options for chat blocking in the coming months. Then, for example, it should also be possible to block companion devices or create a “self-defined password” to allow a different password than the phone.
