The Netherlands disqualified a few hours before the final

From our special correspondent in Malmö (Sweden)

This is unprecedented in the history of Eurovision. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes the competition, announced this Saturday midday the disqualification of Dutch artist Joost Klein.

The singer was to perform this Saturday evening in the final of the competition at the Malmö Arena, with the song Europapa. He was suspended from rehearsals on Friday due to an “incident” in which he was involved. According to information from 20 minuteshe allegedly had an altercation with a camerawoman.

“Swedish police have launched an investigation into a complaint from a member of the production team regarding an incident that occurred after [la] performance [de Joost Klein] in the semi-final on Thursday evening, indicates the EBU in a press release. While the legal process takes its course, it would be inappropriate for him to remain in the competition. » And added that “the behavior of Joost Klein towards a member of our teams is an infringement of the rules of the competition”.

The organization wanted to clarify that contrary to what some media have relayed and rumors on social networks, “this incident does not involve any other artist or member of the delegations”.
