At a friends wedding, a photographer felt exploited: She was badly paid, got nothing to eat and was not allowed to take a break. Therefore there are no photos for the couple now.

Of course, the most important role at weddings is played by the couple, but immediately afterwards – at least one has this impression – the photographer. After all, all the beautiful, unique moments have to be captured. It is therefore advisable to treat this person with special appreciation (preferably in the form of payment). Apparently, a couple didn’t do that – and bitterly regretted their mistake.

A woman reports on Reddit that she took a photo at a friend’s wedding. She usually works as a dog groomer and also takes photos of the animals, but her friend persuaded her to take photos at his wedding because the couple urgently needed to save money. There was a payment anyway: 250 dollars according to the photographer – which is a very meager sum for a whole day.

But that was all that the woman could expect from this wedding. As she tells on Reddit, she took photos of the bride, the wedding ceremony, the subsequent celebration. When the meal was served, the photographer was left empty-handed: “I was told that I couldn’t take a break because I had to take photos. In addition, there was no place reserved for me at a table.”

Of course, fireworks are beautiful. The whole wedding party gathers again in front of the location and looks slightly at the sky, where a color explosion takes place, which is supposed to celebrate this historic day again. And the light that sparklers make looks just great in photos.

But all of this only takes a few minutes – and has a heavy impact on the environment. According to Federal Environment Agency Germans blow up between 100 and 200 million euros and around 5000 tons of fine dust every year on New Year’s Eve – this corresponds to around 17 percent of the annual amount of fine dust emitted in road traffic.

Sure, you don’t want to throw off a 100 million euro fireworks display at your wedding. But if you think about how many people get married each year, not just in Germany, and how many fireworks and sparklers there are … that makes fun! Not to mention the garbage caused! How about candles instead? Also beautiful, also solemn and at the end the guests can take them home and use them there.

By then, at the latest, she was fed up: “I got tired and regretted doing this job for nothing and again for nothing.” But it got even worse. She told the groom that she wanted to take a 20-minute break to have a drink, says the Reddit user. But her boyfriend reacted gruffly: Either she would work through – or she would have to forego the money. “At that point I would have paid 250 euros for a glass of cold water or to be able to sit somewhere for five minutes,” she writes.

Given the brazen behavior of the bridal couple, the photographer’s collar burst: angry, she deleted all the photos she had taken at the wedding. The bride and groom will now have to be content with their own memories of the wedding.

The Reddit user posted her story in the so-called AITA thread (“Am I The Asshole?”) On the platform. There, users tell about their lives and the others can vote on whether they behaved wrongly or right. The vote of the other users is quite clear: The behavior of the photographer is absolutely understandable, most find – if someone misbehaved, it was the bride and groom.
