The Nakba, the catastrophe, the Palestinians – opinion

On May 15, Palestinians commemorate the “Nakba,” the “catastrophe” of 1948. There has been a lot of fighting since then, but Gaza shows the state of the Palestinian cause.

When the Palestinians commemorate the “Nakba” on May 15, it is about “the catastrophe” par excellence. The day of the “great misfortune” marks the beginning of the national homelessness of a people, which continues to this day. In 1948, the Jews read out their declaration of independence, established their state and defended it in a war against five neighboring Arab countries. A good portion of the Palestinians fled, becoming lifelong refugees and national have-nots.
