Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann wanted to play concerts in Russia at the end of the year. The dates have now been cancelled.

The German singer and Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann (59) apparently takes a stand against Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. Lindemann has canceled two performances planned for December 2022 in Novosibirsk and Moscow.

In Lindemann published an Instagram story a picture of the performances of his “I hate children” solo tour planned for November and December so far. While shows in Kyiv, Ukraine, Riga, Prague and Bratislava are still listed, the two shows in Russia are emblazoned with a thick, red “canceled” (engl. “cancelled”). Even on the singer’s website the December shows are listed as cancelled.

But Lindemann doesn’t just want to continue performing in the Ukraine on November 16th. He also published a picture in a story that shows him next to a monument in Kyiv. Both together could reflect how the 59-year-old stands on the current situation. Likewise, the singer does not give the reasons for the cancellation of the concerts in Russia.

Many acts are canceling shows

Numerous other artists and bands, including Nick Cave (64), Iggy Pop (74), Green Day and Franz Ferdinand, had also canceled performances in Russia in the past few days. Cave and his band, The Bad Seeds, had March 1st explained on Twitter, among other things: “Ukraine, we stand by you and by all those in Russia who oppose this brutal act, and we pray that this madness will end soon.”
