Thunderstorms and heavy rain move across RLP

After the last warm weather, it became more uncomfortable on Monday evening – warm thunderstorms and sometimes heavy rain moved over Rhineland-Palatinate. But apparently everything went smoothly.

There were some fire brigade operations in the Trier region. The Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm was particularly affected. According to the fire brigade, heavy rain flooded fields, streets and gardens in Orsfeld and Oberkail. Occasionally water had also penetrated into garages. At the campsite in Prüm, water ran into the administration building. Some roads were also flooded in the border area of the Vulkaneifel district and the Eifel district.

The German Weather Service (DWD) had issued severe weather warnings. The DWD could not tell in advance which regions it would hit exactly.
