The “most beautiful cathedral in France” is located in Le Mans, according to a vote by Internet users

The competition, organized on Facebook, mobilized thousands of Internet users. And it was Le Mans Cathedral which was designated as “the most beautiful cathedral in France”, during the final which pitted it against that of Metz on Thursday. Some 8,000 people voted for the Sarthe building, as part of this unofficial but very popular competition, organized by the tourism application Henoo which involved 32 monuments.

The award will be celebrated on Saturday by the city from 6:30 p.m., during an evening with organ plays and guided tours of this very popular monument. “Higher, wider and longer than Notre-Dame de Paris, the Sarthoise cathedral is visited each year by nearly 300,000 people,” explains the diocese on its website. A landmark in the city, much loved by the Manceaux, Saint-Julien combines Romanesque and Gothic. Every summer, it is also one of the sites of the Chimera Night light projections. »

The title was even welcomed by the prefect of Sarthe who underlined “the beauty of our emblematic cathedral”, built between the 11th and 15th centuries.
