It’s a relief for Eric Dupond-Moretti. The Court of Justice of the Republic this Wednesday acquitted the Minister of Justice, prosecuted for illegal taking of interest. The prosecution had requested a one-year suspended prison sentence, stating its “conviction” that Eric Dupond-Moretti had indeed been guilty of illegal taking of interests by opening, as minister, administrative investigations targeting four magistrates whom he had criticized when he was a lawyer – triggering an unprecedented complaint from the judiciary unions.
