It took a good four years, but at the beginning of June the time had come: The Bavarian Hiking Association officially certified Friedenfels in Upper Palatinate at a ceremony as the first “nature adventure village” not only in Bavaria, but in the entire German-speaking region. The new rating stands for gentle tourism with a focus on hiking and cycling, preferably in quiet low mountain regions, and is intended to promote small, original communities – such as Friedenfels. “Bavaria is not just Upper Bavaria and the mountains,” says Friedenfels Mayor Oskar Schuster. “If you’re looking for peace and quiet and want to really relax, you’ve come to the right place in northern Upper Palatinate with its original and unspoiled landscapes.”
Friedenfels in Upper Palatinate will be the first nature adventure village in Bavaria. – Bavaria
