MDR condemns incident
Gil Ofarim was a guest on a recording on behalf of the MDR on Monday evening before the incident. “What happened to him afterwards in a Leipzig hotel is deeply shameful,” said MDR spokeswoman Julia Krittian. “We condemn all anti-Semitic statements and demand complete clarification and consequences.”
Hotel is looking for answers
A spokesman for the “Westin Leipzig” told the German press agency that it was very concerned about the report and that it was taking the matter extremely seriously. The company is trying to contact Ofarim to find out what happened.
In response to a tweet from Anna Staroselski, President of the Jewish Student Union of Germany, the Marriott chain, to which the Westin belongs, also assured that it would take this matter “very seriously”. “We are urgently investigating to find out what happened here,” it said.
