Charlotte Casiraghi opens Chanel fashion show on her horse
Charlotte Casiraghi, daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco and passionate horsewoman, has the Chanel haute couture show opened on horseback. After the appearance of musician Sébastien Tellier, who provided the soundtrack for the show, the 35-year-old rode onto the catwalk on a horse. In a dark, glittering tweed jacket, with a riding helmet and boots, she did a lap through the sand and then galloped back behind the scenes. Only then did the actual fashion show begin. Chanel has always had a close relationship with equestrianism. The temporary exhibition building in the Grand Palais Ephémère on the Champ de Mars was transformed by artist Xavier Veilhan into a contemporary equestrian course that led through huge installations made of untreated wood. The last model, traditionally performing a wedding dress, held a bouquet of blue flowers – a tribute to actor Gaspard Ulliel who died after a skiing accident. The Frenchman had advertised the Chanel perfume “Bleu”.
