It’s Martinique’s turn. Restaurants, cinemas and theaters will close there from Thursday due to the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, the prefect of the overseas department said on Tuesday. “It’s a collective activity without a mask,” said Prefect Stanislas Cazelles at a press conference.

A curfew from 10 p.m. had already been put in place since the end of last week on the island where the British variant of the coronavirus circulates. Some 594 new cases were recorded this week in Martinique, against 401 the previous week.

Tuesday, a dozen doctors from the Martinique Hospital Center appealed to the population to be vaccinated, warning that “the Martinique University Hospital (had) reached the limits of its capabilities”.
