Nuremberg: Man flees over the roofs from the police – Bavaria

The arrest of a man wanted with an arrest warrant has led to scenes ready for film in Nuremberg. When police officers had the door to the 34-year-old’s apartment opened by a locksmith, the man fled through a small window on the roof of the apartment building in Südstadt on Saturday morning, according to a police spokeswoman. Then he tried to avoid arrest by jumping onto other roofs.

The fire brigade set up a jumping mat because the 34-year-old was said to be in danger of slipping again and again. In order not to lose sight of the man, police officers climbed onto a fire brigade turntable ladder, and a police helicopter was also used.

According to the police, the 34-year-old gave up after about an hour. He was unharmed and was then taken to a correctional facility, it said. The police spokeswoman did not want to say exactly why the man was wanted with an arrest warrant – but he could have prevented his arrest by paying a sum of money, she explained.
