New “Game of Thrones” series: The two main actors have been chosen

The first “Game of Thrones” spin-off “House of the Dragon” continues this summer on the US channel HBO. But a second series release of the epic fantasy success is already in the works. The two main actors have now been confirmed for the show “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”, according to the official X channel of Max, HBO’s streaming service. has now announced.

Acting newcomer cast for “Game of Thrones” spin-off

Accordingly, the Irish actor Peter Claffey and the nine-year-old Brit Dexter Sol Ansell will take on the main roles in the adaptation of the stories of Dunk and Egg (or in the English original: Dunk and Egg). Former rugby player Claffey previously appeared in the BBC series Wreck. In the new “Game of Thrones” spin-off takes over the 1.95 meter tall actor fittingly the role of the aspiring knight Ser Duncan the Great, who was known, among other things, for his height.

Dexter Sol Ansell, meanwhile, played the main character Coriolanus Snow at a younger age in the prequel film “The Hunger Games – The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” last year. The child actor portrays Ser Duncan’s squire egg in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”.

The new “Game of Thrones” series is based on the “Hedge Knights of Westeros” stories by “A Song of Ice and Fire” author George RR Martin (75). The series takes place around 100 years before the well-known events of “Game of Thrones”, at a time when the Targaryen dynasty still rules over Westeros, but the supposedly last dragons have already died.

A smaller fantasy series is expected compared to “Game of Thrones” and “House of the Dragon”. In George RR Martin’s original novellas, knight Ser Duncan and his squire Egg travel through the country, take part in tournaments and experience other adventures. The new series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” could therefore feature fewer different characters and settings than in the previous two series. It will also probably deal with familiar topics such as the politics of Westeros and succession battles for the coveted place on the Iron Throne less often than in “House of the Dragon” or “Game of Thrones”.

A start date for the new series has not yet been set.
