During the pandemic, a fairly new event format established itself: the online tasting. Some restaurants teamed up with wine merchants they trusted, put together cooking boxes and added a few bottles of wine, which could then be tasted online. What remains of this is the Virtual Wine Tour of the German Wine Institute, where you can order 19 different tours online, each with four wines for 9.90 euros. And because each bottle only contains 50 milliliters, it certainly doesn’t turn into a rough binge. Incidentally, there is still an analog one Wine tour Munich, which presents 13 German wine regions. It takes place at the end of March (Wine tour Munich, Alte Kongresshalle, Am Bavariapark 14, Saturday and Sunday, March 25 and 26, 12-7 p.m. and 12-6 p.m., online ticket: 15 euros). Already next Thursday is the well-known Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso with his Tre Bicchieri tasting in the city. Outstanding wines that have performed particularly well in the new edition of the guide will be presented to the specialist audience. In the afternoon, the mini fair is also open to wine lovers (Gambero Rosso – Tre Bicchieri tasting, Smartvillage Bogenhausen, Rosenkavalierplatz 13, Thursday, March 16, 4-7 p.m., admission 20 euros). And if that’s not enough wine for you, you can seamlessly follow it up with a visit to the Wine Munich Springwhere theoretically more than 900 wines can be tasted by 120 exhibitors (Wine Munich Spring, Praterinsel, Friday to Sunday, March 17th to 19th, box office: 20 euros, www.webermesse.de).
Superficially, one might think that normality has returned to gastronomy. Unfortunately, this is not the case. A lack of staff and rising costs are taking their toll. In the past few weeks, several restaurants have closed or announced that they will be closing soon. The St. Emmeramsmühle east of the English Garden gave their farewell performance on March 2nd. The Wuid cash economy in Humboldtstraße has been closed since the end of February due to a lack of staff, the colleagues from Black dachshund in Schwanthalerstraße have to stop at the end of May due to the renovation of the property. The French neo bistro L’address 37 in Tulbeckstraße closes at the end of June because the lease has been increased by the new homeowner. And the dumpling turners from Saint Annas have now also given up their restaurant on Gärtnerplatz.
