Poor and outdated infrastructure, lack of transport links, dusty views – these are just some of the prejudices against country life. At the same time, people flee the city in droves at weekends in search of peace and relaxation in the seemingly idyllic nature. But what does it really mean, the original, rural Bavaria? does that even exist? The two SZ editors Sebastian Beck and Hans Kratzer discuss this in the lounge at Buttermelcherstraße 15 in Munich.
For years, the two have been documenting country life in Bavaria away from the large tourist streams. They were recently awarded the Culture Prize of the Bavarian State Foundation for their book and exhibition project “Zeitlang – Unknown Bavaria”. Six motifs from it can be seen in the windows of the common room. The event starts at 7 p.m., is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., admission is free.
