Munich: A panel discussion: “Being Jewish in Germany” – Munich

Anti-Semitism is increasingly being shown openly in Germany and the number of crimes against Jews is increasing – in 2021 by 29 percent compared to the previous year. While there is a public discourse on this as well as on the Shoah, there is none when it comes to the general reality of life of German Jews and their roles in society that are assigned to them by others or assigned to them.

The anthology “Sure we didn’t stay. Being Jewish in Germany”, published in 2022, is dedicated to these aspects – and on Monday, July 8th, a panel discussion of the same name. Participants include Laura Cazés, the book’s editor, and the authors Ruben Gerczikow, Shahrzad Eden Osterer and Erica Zingher. The discussion will be moderated by Aaron Buck, board member of the Jewish community.

Panel discussion “We certainly didn’t stay. Being Jewish in Germany”, Monday, July 3, 7 p.m., Jewish Community Center, St. Jakobs-Platz 18, www.ikg-m.de
