Local round: Brunch at Easter – Munich

Many top restaurants went on Easter holiday. Presumably to cope with the exciting announcement of the Michelin stars. Munich has done very well again, there are now 18 starred restaurants in the city, there have never been so many. Especially for those with one star, the difference in quality is surprisingly large, with almost everything from “merits in the past, but very old-fashioned” to “innovative and avant-garde”. The Mural Group’s two fine dining restaurants belong to the latter category. Both – both that Mural in Hotterstrasse as well as that Mural Farmhouse on Gmunder Straße in Obersendling were able to defend their star. Which is a special achievement at the Farmhouse because Rico Birndtwho only achieved the star a year ago, has already left the house again and the successors, Maximilian Huber and Timo Fritsche, haven’t been around that long yet. A similar situation could now occur in the parent house, the Mural. Because Joshua Quiet, at 28 years old the youngest star chef in the city, who received the coveted award for the fifth time this year, will be leaving the house in October. It’s not easy for him, but on the other hand, at 28 you want to get to know something new. But it’s still there, even at Easter, by the way. And that’s why there is a four-course brunch on Easter Sunday, both for early risers at eleven o’clock and for late risers from 2 p.m (Brunch menu in the Mural Restaurant, Hotterstraße 12, Easter Monday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., 45 euros per person, www.muralrestaurant.de).

Of course, Mural isn’t the only restaurant hosting an Easter brunch. In any case, it is guaranteed that it is also in the Mangostine There’s another one, as always with a huge Asian buffet and Easter egg hunts for the children (Maria-Einsiedel-Straße 2, Sunday and Monday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., per person 92 euros, children 6-12 years: 46 euros, www.kuffler.de/de/mangostin). A French Easter brunch with specialties from oysters to crème brûlée is available in the restaurant La Grenouille of the five-star Munich Palace Hotel, also on Sunday and Monday (Trogerstraße 21, 12-3 p.m., per person 80 euros, children 6-12 years: 35 euros, www.kuffler.de/de/palace-restaurant). And also in Munich Mariott Hotel In Schwabing you can have brunch on Easter Sunday, children can also look for eggs here and there is a play area (Berliner Straße 93, Easter Sunday 10.30 a.m. – 2 p.m., per person 65 euros, children 7-11 years: 32.50 euros, www.marriot.com).
