120 pigs died in a barn fire in Iphofen (Kitzingen district). According to the first findings of the police, the cause should have been a technical defect. After the residents of the agricultural property were awakened by the smell of burning on Sunday evening, they first left the house and promptly called the emergency number.
The full fire in the barn spread to the roof truss of the adjacent residential building and to other neighboring buildings due to flying sparks. The fire was only completely extinguished in the early hours of the morning thanks to a large contingent. Only 26 pigs could be saved. According to the police, the damage caused by the fire is around 250,000 euros.
