Hospitalizations still on the rise in France



The number of patients with Covid-19 in hospital and in intensive care increased on Saturday, according to figures published by Public Health France. Critical care services, which welcome the most seriously ill, counted 1,099 patients this Saturday, against 1,072 the day before and 878 seven days ago.

The threshold of 1,000 patients in these services was crossed Thursday. Ninety-one patients have been admitted in the past 24 hours. This indicator had fallen below the threshold of 1,000 on July 7, before starting to climb slowly.

42,466,447 people received at least one injection

The number of people hospitalized has also risen slightly to 7,409 patients, against 7,363 on Friday, including 467 admitted in the last twenty-four hours. Saturday, July 24, hospitals in France had 6,787 patients. On the contamination side, the number of new positive cases stood at 23,471 on Saturday against 24,309 on Friday. The positivity rate remains stable at 4.3%. The disease has killed 43 people in twenty-four hours in hospital, bringing the total of deaths to 111,898 since the start of the pandemic – including 85,384 in hospital -.

On the vaccination side, 42,466,447 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 63% of the total population) since the start of the campaign in France and 35,400,285 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 52.5% of the population total).
