It’s just a small shift, but it creates a moment of irritation. Actually, there is just an ordinary street lamp in front of the town hall, model whip lantern, which glows in the dark. But something is different. The arm of the lantern branches out, forms further, more delicate ramifications, at the end of which there are small lights. It is a kind of lamp tree that literally grows up on the art platform in front of the Gräfelfingen town hall.
Every few months, the Gräfelfingen Kunstkreis presents a new work of art on the platform in front of the town hall and opposite the S-Bahn station, which enters into a dialogue with its surroundings. The sculptor Florian Froese-Peeck is currently designing an intervention in public space. Its lamp tree invites passers-by to perceive their surroundings differently.

The inspiration for the lamp trees, which Froese-Peeck has exhibited many times, is rooted in nature: trees branch and ramify so perfectly in the golden ratio that leaves are always arranged in such a way that the sunlight reaches each leaf from above, the sculptor says observed. He transferred this mathematical formula to his lanterns, which, with their floral look, go so well with the garden city, as Ingrid Gardill from the Kunstkreis says. Despite all the appeal to nature, the work of art contains ice-cold technology: lamp boxes and glass covers come from the 3D printer.
