Neve Campbell has revealed what motivated her to return to “Scream”. According to “The Godfather,” it was an offer she couldn’t refuse.

Neve Campbell (50)’s return to the successful horror series “Scream” is a done deal. Now the actress has revealed what motivated her to make a comeback in her role as Sidney Prescott. In the style of the godfather Vito Corleone aka Marlon Brando, Campbell was apparently made an offer by the film studio that she simply couldn’t refuse. The star now revealed that exclusively to the US site “People”.

“I lived with Sidney for 30 years and I’m really, really happy to be going back to her,” Campbell said. She was absent for the first time in the sixth part of the franchise after she felt that the salary offered was nowhere near the value she had for the “Scream” series. This oversight appears to have been eradicated, as Campbell suggests: “When they first came to me [wegen Scream 7], I thought, ‘I don’t know what respect looks like for her. We could be in very different places.’ But they started in a strong place, which was nice.” Unsurprisingly, she didn’t give an exact amount.

Chaos at “Scream 7”

The truth, however, is that the makers of “Scream 7” probably had no choice but to give the former leading actress a hefty salary increase. Most recently, the film’s production sank into chaos after the new “Scream” lead actress Melissa Barrera (33) was fired in November last year. Film colleague Jenna Ortega (21) will also no longer be seen in the role of Barrera’s sister in the film series, as there were scheduling conflicts with the filming of the Netflix hit “Wednesday 2”. And then director Christopher Landon (49) also dropped out of the project.

When it looked like Scream 7 would have to be completely killed, Neve Campbell revealed this March personally via Instagram, that she is ready to rescue the film series: “I’m so excited to share this news with you: Sidney Prescott is coming back.” A new director has already been found: Kevin Williamson (59), author of the original film “Scream!” from 1996, will direct the seventh part.
