Olympic silver medalist Kristin Pudenz celebrated her first European Championship medal with a personal best. The 29-year-old discus thrower took second place in an exciting competition at the Munich Olympic Stadium with a throw of 67.87 meters.

The victory went to the Croatian title holder Sandra Perkovic, whose discus flew only eight centimeters further. It was her sixth European title in a row.

Bronze also went to the German team through Claudine Vita. The 25-year-old from Neubrandenburg achieved her best jump of the season of 65.20 meters. Shortly after Niklas Kaul’s decathlon gold, Pudenz’ silver was the second medal of the evening for the German track and field athletes in the Olympic Stadium at these European Championships.

According to Pudenz, she quickly found her way out of her low at the World Athletics Championships in the USA. At the World Championships a few weeks ago, she had reached the final battle, but after three throws in the final, she was out of the medal race and only came eleventh.
