In the dispute over the payment of state aid for the ecological restructuring of their economies, Europe and the USA have moved towards each other. Economics Minister Robert Habeck and his French counterpart Bruno Le Maire said after talks with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in Washington on Tuesday that “substantial progress” had been made. There is now “a common understanding” that the development of climate-neutral industries and the reduction of the economic dependency of countries like China must not work against each other, but with each other. “We depend on each other,” said Habeck.
