“Drug lord” back in court for major trial

It is a large-scale trial which opens this Monday, for around ten days. In Vannes, 18 defendants including the main one, nicknamed locally “the drug baron”, will appear for significant drug trafficking (cocaine and cannabis resin), between 2015 and 2017, in the Kercado district.

Some of these traffickers will also be tried for money laundering, possession of a weapon, or participation in a criminal association and violent escape, reports The Telegram. Five young people must also appear in juvenile court.

A four-part affair

This trial, called Kercado 2, is all the more special because it is the second part of a vast affair, and which includes four. Tried with his brother, the man suspected of having been at the head of this important network was twice sentenced to seven and ten years in prison, reduced on appeal, recalls The Telegram.

During the fourth round last year, nine men and women were convicted. The newspaper West France wrote that between 2019 and 2020, trafficking (which involved cocaine, heroin and cannabis resin) would have “generated a turnover of 300,000 euros per month”.
