Deneuve in the window, Basque berets in Paris, nouvelle cuisine is 50 years old… The 5 stylish news of the week

Deneuve in window

Last year, it was Naomi Campbell and Isabelle Huppert. This year, it’s Catherine Deneuve. The French star inaugurated the Printemps Haussmann Christmas windows on Thursday evening. “Christmas made of paper, wishes are granted” promises the department store which intends to transport passers-by on Boulevard Hausmann, in Paris, into an extraordinary universe which mobilized 150 people for three weeks of assembly, where the magic of the season comes to life under the shape of thousands of letters and messages brought by migratory birds. A magical universe where paper is transformed into a captivating Christmas tale, these letters and wishes enliven the department store’s emblematic windows. xx yy zz.

Last day for Blaye wines in Paris

“There are, among the Blaye-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, some very successful wines,” confided sommelier Emmanuel Delmas to 20 minutes at the time of the Wine Fair. With often very good quality-price ratios. Confirmation this weekend with the Blaye au Comptoir event whose delegation of winegrowers, for the first time, opened a pop-up wine bar in the heart of the capital.

La Crémerie de Paris N° 1 thus welcomes more than twenty producers with whom it is possible to exchange ideas, sit down to taste their wines (in moderation) accompanied by a board of cheese and charcuterie or to buy their wines at take away. In partnership with the Tomme des Pyrénées and Pierre Oteiza sector, the South-West is still shining until this evening in Paris. The winegrowers will also be present in partner restaurants, bars and wine cellars such as Le Mesturet, La Source or Botak is back, which have participated in the operation for many years.

Miyazaki’s initiatory and graphic journey

Nothing is more exotic than the world of Hayao Miyazaki. Nothing more familiar either. You (and your children) liked The Boy and the Heron ? You’ll love it (and so will they) Shuna’s Journey, which accompanies the release of the Japanese filmmaker’s new feature film in bookstores. The publishing house Sarbacane published this graphic novel which dates from 1983, unpublished in France for forty years, and which the master of animation did not intend for the cinema, even if his son Gorō Miyazaki, confided to having been inspired of these images for his own film, Tales from Earthsea.

“Shuna’s Journey” by Miyazaki – S.LEBLANC / 20MINUTES

We have all the more pleasure in discovering this early work, painted in watercolor, as it bears the germ of many themes that Hayao Miyazaki would later develop. The form of the initiatory story, a quest to save a people from famine, a courageous young hero, a partner who is no less courageous, fantastic animal creatures, the opposition between nature and civilization, forests and ruins… so many elements that we find from Nausicää Or Princess Mononoke notably, his first masterpieces for Studio Ghibli. It’s “a story that is both eternal and new,” underlines Guillermo Del Toro, a director who is a fan of this universe, on the banner of the book.

Live seeds at home

Have you ever heard of “raw food” or “crudivorism”? It is a modern form of diet that attempts to take advantage of the benefits of plant-based food when it is still “alive” or at least “raw”. The objective is to preserve all the nutritional properties (vitamins, enzymes, minerals, etc.) until your meal which deteriorate above 42°C. A must to stay in shape all year round and especially during winter, when the body needs it most. The simplest thing is to start with sprouted seeds, the harvest of which will enhance your salads or dishes.

Sprouted seeds, ready to be harvested after three or four days – S.LEBLANC / 20MINUTES

How ? By obtaining a germinator like Easygreen Sol which allows you to quietly grow your plant, vegetable or cereal sprouts at home. It is a stack of boxes, the top one of which must be filled with water. In the lower one, seeds germinate, watered slowly, independently, which allows you to obtain a harvest in your living room (or bathroom) in a few days. Please note, stacking the boxes takes up a little space, requires a minimum of light as well as a 5 liter bin (or a shower tray) to ensure emptying. But the sprouter allows you to obtain a harvest in a few days, even in the middle of winter. We owe this invention to Eric and Aurélie Viard who, at the head of a Gard company Biovie, launched the first autonomous French sprouter that is 100% recyclable.

The new kitchen is 50 years old

Half a century is the anniversary that the Gault & Millau guide intends to celebrate by relaunching its magazine after six years of absence from newsstands. It is in these pages, originally launched in 1969, that Henri Gault and Christian Millau theorized what would become in 1973 “the new cuisine”, in opposition to the classic codes of gastronomy of the time. The two partners were then among the most ardent defenders of a modern, elegant and light cuisine, free of its sauces and its fat, which would conquer the world and become a reference today.

Under the direction of Stéphane Bréhier, the magazine offers several key themes, between news and reports, conversations (Guy Savoy and Fabrice Hybert) and recipes (hare à la royale step by step)… but also decoration, crafts and lifestyle (Khmer cuisine ). Six issues are planned for the year.
