At the beginning of the year, a four-year-old boy died horribly in Lower Saxony. Charges have now been brought against the mother’s partner.

After the death of a four-year-old in Barsinghausen in Lower Saxony, the public prosecutor’s office in Hanover brought charges of murder against the mother’s 33-year-old partner. The 28-year-old mother is accused of murder by omission. In addition, the couple is charged with severe abuse of wards and deprivation of liberty.

On January 12, 2023, the 33-year-old is said to have hit the little boy numerous times in the head and body with a hard object in order to kill him. He is also said to have committed serious sexual violence against the child. The boy died that night in the apartment in Barsinghausen.

At first, the man with German and Polish citizenship and the Polish woman tried to explain the four-year-old’s injuries by falling down the stairs. Since the woman moved to the 33-year-old in May 2022, the boy and his six-year-old sister are said to have been regularly beaten, tortured and at times locked in an unheated, dark storage room.
