The sequel to the cinema hit “Dune” is scheduled to hit the cinemas at the end of 2023. In addition to Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh could also be on board.

From “Black Widow” to “Dune”: British actress Florence Pugh (26) is negotiating a role in the planned sequel to the desert spectacle “Dune”.

She is set to play the role of Princess Irulan Corrino, who begins a romance with Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, according to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. However, no contract has been signed yet, it said. Pugh and Chalamet previously directed the film “Little Women” (2019).

The Legendary Entertainment studio announced the sequel last October. Dune: Part 2 is slated to hit theaters in October 2023. Canadian Denis Villeneuve (“Blade Runner 2049”) will direct again. The original cast includes the likes of Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista and Javier Bardem alongside Chalamet.

Frank Herbert’s novel “Der Wüstenplanet” from 1965 was filmed with a huge budget and a star cast. The focus is on the desert planet Arrakis with the valuable substance Spice, for which good and evil forces fight. Released in 2021, the film grossed nearly $400 million worldwide. It has been nominated for ten Oscars, including Best Picture and for the music of the German composer Hans Zimmer.
