Airbnb expects 500,000 travelers and is preparing an “exceptional system”

“The biggest event in our history. » This is how the next Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris are qualified at Airbnb. Just that ! “It is unprecedented because it is the intersection between France, which is our second largest market in the world, and Paris, the largest destination,” completes with 20 minutes Clement Eulry.

The general director of the American platform in France and Belgium expects “500,000 travelers” according to estimates from Deloitte and announces an “exceptional system” at 27 million euros. What forms will it take? The global online booking giant promises an expansion of “AirCover” guarantees.

Clearly, any customer who has problems with their accommodation will be directed to another or simply refunded. “We assure people that they can be rehoused,” promises the leader. In this sense, 2,400 agents, including French speakers, have been trained and will be available “twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week”.

To each of its customers in Paris, Airbnb also promises to send a “Responsible Traveler’s Guide”. “For transport, waste sorting or even telling them that a parquet floor can be noisy and that you have to be careful,” explains Clément Eulry.

There are “remaining” accommodations

For the Olympic and Paralympic Games, around twenty-five nights, the American platform estimates that it can offer “130,000 accommodations throughout Ile-de-France available for at least one night”. “A part has already been reserved but there is still some left,” insists the general director, giving other figures.

Not that of the average price of the night, “complicated to give because too many accommodations are different”, but on the increase in the price. “It will be almost twice as expensive as last year at the same time. We observe an 85% increase in price. » With, for hosts, an expected income of “2,000 euros on average”. Enough to book a vacation elsewhere… perhaps on the same site.
