After a call for attacks, the prosecution announces proceedings against a legislative candidate

The Montpellier public prosecutor’s office announced the opening of a preliminary investigation against a “former candidate in the June 2022 legislative elections in Montpellier”. On November 24, she allegedly called for attacks on her Facebook account. The post notably contained the following remarks: “if it’s war that the scum want, they’re going to have it. In the 1980s there were ratonnades. At the risk of shocking we can start again, but we will not let our children be cowardly murdered by armed scum in excess…”

The publication is “likely to receive the criminal classification of public provocation to hatred or violence because of belonging to an ethnic group, race or religion”, underlines the prosecution. If her identity is not explicitly named, it would, according to SOS Racisme, be Florence Medina, candidate for Reconquête! in the first constituency of Hérault in 2022, where she obtained 6.21% of the votes cast. The president of SOS Racisme, Dominique Sopo, announced on November 24 the filing of a complaint.

Quoted by France 3, Nicole Mina, coordinator of Reconquête! in Hérault, explains that Florence Medina is no longer part of Éric Zemmour’s party. “Her comments are her own and do not correspond to what Reconquest can say,” she specifies.
