MotoGP: starting grid

The MotoGP pilots will soon be on the starting grid for their long race. Since it’s dry and sunny, we’re hoping for fewer falls than in yesterday’s sprint. The cards are now being reshuffled again.

But the starting order remains the same: Marc Marquez is on pole position and shares row one with Bezzecchi and Martin. Binder, Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez line up in row two. World champion Bagnaia starts from seventh place on the grid.

Moto2: The votes of the top 3

Fermin Aldeguer (1st/Speed-Up-Boscoscuro): “I’m very happy to have won my home race here. All my fans are here! My father was here for the first time 30 years ago and now we’ve won. Unbelievable!”

Joe Roberts (2nd/American Racing Kalex): “My qualifying killed me. The team worked so well, I had the best motorcycle. But I didn’t find my line in qualifying. It was one of my best races. I don’t know what else could have been. We are strong and lead the World Championship. I’m on the podium for the third time in a row. I’ve never done that before. Now it’s on to Le Mans.

Manuel Gonzalez (3rd/Gresini-Kalex): “I really enjoyed the race. In the first laps I wanted to stay at the front and ride my rhythm. But then the bike felt different, I struggled in turns four and five. I tried to fight for second place .Fermin was very fast. It was difficult to follow him. A podium at the home race is every driver’s dream.

12:57 p.m

Moto2: Aldeguer with first win of the season

Aldeguer closes the bag and confidently takes the win with 1.287 seconds. It’s his first this season. Behind him, Roberts celebrates his third second place in a row and thus takes the championship lead. Gonzalez is third ahead of Garcia.

Arenas, Ogura, Arbolino, Alcoba, Vietti and Chantra complete the top 10. Masia falls late in the last points position and is eliminated. In total, only 20 of 30 drivers saw the checkered flag, with the last three finishers still completing the race after their incidents.

12:51 p.m

Moto2: Roberts second

At the front, Mass has been said for Aldeguer, provided he doesn’t make any more big mistakes. Behind it comes the expected duel between Gonzalez and Roberts, who takes more than one attempt but gets past in the end. A little further back, Lopez also crashed.

12:48 p.m

Moto2: Aldeguer with a lead

Let’s focus on the top again. Aldeguer has extended his lead to almost two seconds with five laps remaining. Gonzalez holds second place, but Roberts is not far away. After Roberts’ attack, Garcia quickly lost contact and had no chance of getting on the podium on his own.

Arenas is fifth after Ramirez crashed right in front of him – again in turn 13. Lopez and Ogura line up behind them.

12:44 p.m

Moto2: Difficult situation

Turn 13 takes the next rider out of the race: Escrig has a highside here – and his bike drives driverless across the track into the pit wall! Fortunately, all following pilots are able to avoid it.

12:39 p.m

Moto2: Roberts on course for the podium

Roberts is by far the fastest in the field and can quickly close the gap to Garcia. After the World Championship leader made a small mistake in the finish corner, it was his turn – and the attack didn’t take long to arrive. Meanwhile, Moreira also leaves the race in a fall.

12:35 p.m

Moto2: Gap is getting bigger

Once in the lead, Aldeguer can immediately open up a small gap. Gonzalez and Garcia fight for the connection. Roberts has now moved up to fourth place and is currently driving the fastest laps. He is 1.3 seconds behind Garcia.

At the end of the ninth lap, Dixon finished the race in seventh place. He is the next to fall out.

12:31 p.m

Moto2: Duel at the top

Aldeguer has closed the gap to Gonzalez and mounts an attack, but has to back off at first. But Aldeguer doesn’t let up. It goes back and forth between the two. This also brings Garcia closer again.

Meanwhile, further back the field is thinning out more and more. Now Foggia, Binder and Baltus have also fallen. Van den Goorbergh had to complete a long lap. He was apparently responsible for the Artigas crash and was punished accordingly.

12:25 p.m

Moto2: Roberts on the rise

At the front, the field sorted out a bit after three laps. Gonzalez leads ahead of Aldeguer, who has taken second place back from Garcia. Dixon holds third place, but is already almost a second behind and is now being attacked by Arenas. And Roberts also steps on the gas. He broke into the top six.

The next rider, Artigas, fell.

12:23 p.m

Moto2: The first crashes

In turn 6 we have the first crash, Senna Agius. The replay shows: He hit Baltus in the rear and fell to the ground as a result. Shortly afterwards, another fall was reported. This time he caught Bendsneyder.

12:20 p.m

Moto2: Gonzalez holds his own

Gonzalez and Aldeguer are already dueling for the lead on lap one. But Gonzalez stays ahead while Aldeguer loses a position to Garcia. Roberts and Lopez are still stuck in eleventh and sixteenth place after the first lap.

12:19 p.m

Moto2: The start

Gonzalez wins the start and leads the field into the first corner ahead of Aldeguer and Garcia. Dixon and Arenas line up behind them. Moreira falls back.
