Federal party conference
FDP General Secretary: Germany must use potential
The FDP sees itself as the guardian of the economy in Germany – this was also made clear by Secretary General Djir-Sarai at the party conference.
Djir-Sarai emphasized that Germany should not continue to fall further behind in international competition. “The next few years must not be years of crisis. Rather, they must once again be years of recovery and prosperity.” Anyone who wants prosperity for all, functioning social security systems and ecological transformation must have a vital interest in sustainably strengthening Germany’s economic base.
Djir-Sarai referred to the motion for economic transition that was passed by a large majority at the party congress the day before. “If we as the FDP don’t take care of the country’s economic future, then no one will.” The FDP must lead the way here. “The reactions of political competitors inside and outside the coalition show this very clearly.”
The FDP General Secretary warned: “Without growth, without productivity, without a good overall economic foundation, our democracy and our values will not be able to be permanently resilient to external and internal challenges.”
