Abuse report: parish association “Four Fountains” calls for reforms – district of Munich

In response to the Munich abuse report, the parish association “Four Fountains” is calling for fundamental reforms in the Catholic Church. The report on sexual violence in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising “triggered great horror, shame, indignation and deep disappointment among us personally and our parishioners and practicing Christians, as probably in all parishes and parish associations in our archdiocese,” it said in a written statement Statement of the parish association, which is signed by the chairmen of the parish association council, Johanna Feldmeier and Andrea Hopf, the church orderlies Thomas Maier and Christian Hopf, pastor Martin Ringhof and administration manager Clemens Hachmöller. The parish association includes Catholic parishes in Ottobrunn, Hohenbrunn, Putzbrunn and Grasbrunn.

According to the statement, the proposals of the synodal path are “fully supported”. These relate, among other things, to a reorganization of power and the separation of powers in the Church, the move away from celibacy and the equal participation of women. Structures must be developed and implemented in the Catholic Church “that prevent sexual and spiritual violence and wrong decisions by church officials and enable transparent decisions in the service of people”. The parish association is committed to ensuring that the necessary steps on the way to reforming the church’s power structures are decided at the third general assembly of the synodal path from February 3rd to 5th in Frankfurt.
