A7 near Rendsburg closed until Monday – today in both directions | NDR.de – News

As of: April 13, 2024 12:01 a.m

Autobahn GmbH Nord is building a new bridge over the A7 at the Owschlag junction. To do this, the highway has to be closed in both directions – it started on Friday evening.

It could be a stressful test for drivers in Schleswig-Holstein. Towards the south, the A7 will be completely closed from Friday evening at 8 p.m. until Monday (April 15th) at 5 a.m. The section between the Owschlag junction (Rendsburg-Eckernförde district) and Rendsburg/Büdelsdorf is affected. During this period, the bridge components are to be installed over the road towards Hamburg. For safety reasons, the northbound motorway will be completely closed today from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Closures necessary for new bridge over A7

In the opposite direction of travel to the north, the A7 will be completely closed next weekend from Friday, April 19th (8 p.m.) to Monday, April 22nd (5 a.m.). Here too, for safety reasons, the A7 in the direction of Hamburg will be completely closed on Saturday (April 20th) from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. while the new bridge components are being lifted into place. According to Autobahn GmbH Nord, a total of 14 steel girders will be used over the two weekends to build the new bridge over the A7.

Detours via Schleswig-Jagel and Kreuz Rendsburg

According to Autobahn GmbH, road users from the north in the direction of Hamburg should best leave at the Schleswig-Jagel junction (Schleswig-Flensburg district). The diversion route continues via the B77 towards Rendsburg, the B202 towards Kiel, onto the A210 towards Kiel to the Rendsburg motorway junction. From there it goes back to the A7 to Hamburg.

Autobahn GmbH recommends that drivers coming from the south to Flensburg take the diversion from the Rendsburg motorway junction. From there you continue on the A210 towards Rendsburg, the B202 and the B77. At the Schleswig-Jagel junction you return to the A7 in a northerly direction.

Autobahn GmbH expects a high volume of traffic on the two weekends. If you know the local area, you should ideally use an alternative route or, if possible, avoid driving over the route.

Special crane is to use new bridge components

The dilapidated bridge from 1971 was demolished in June last year. The old structure had various defects and damage and is now to be replaced by a new building. The 14 steel girders of the new bridge are each 38 meters long and weigh around 50 tons. A special 500-ton crane will then use the components over the two weekends. The construction work is scheduled to be completed at the end of the year, according to Autobahn GmbH.
