A highline of more than a km soon stretched at 2,200 meters above sea level, just above the slopes of Piau

To make you dizzy, including the skiers of the Piau-Engaly station, which will hurtle down the slopes just below. From February 27, a strap barely 2.5 cm wide and 1,150 m long will appear in the Hautes-Pyrénées ski area.

This highline, which should be the longest to be installed in the Pyrenees, will be anchored to a pole of the Campbielh chairlift and will be connected to the rocky ridge that borders the “La Grande Bleue” run. It is the association Slackline Basque Countryrequested by the resort of Piau, which will succeed in this technical feat at an altitude of 2,200 meters.

The “slackers” will then be able to launch themselves on this narrow strap, perched more than 200 meters from the ground. An initiative taken within the framework of the “Natura Piau” project which aims in particular to diversify the activities of the ski area.

Its installation will be done when the station is closed and should take between five and eight hours. If the weather conditions are good, it will take place from February 27 to March 5, but could be postponed from March 6 to 12 in the opposite context.
