Timo Werner leads Leipzig to their next victory. He comes on late and scores.

After his 161-day goal drought, he wanted to Don’t let Timo Werner celebrate big. The RB Leipzig striker enjoyed his winning goal in Mönchengladbach with his teammates and made his way to the team bus early after the 1-0 win.

“It’s normal that he’s not freaking out now. I think he’s extremely happy inside. He’s a very important building block for our team and has never let himself down,” said teammate Kevin Kampl after the fourth Bundesliga win in a row.

RB coach Rose is happy for Werner

Coach Marco Rose was also happy for his striker, who has recently been in a goal crisis and is currently not in the attack at RB. The former Gladbach coach sat down next to his striker before being substituted in the 70th minute and reminded him of his qualities. “He then implemented it brilliantly,” said Rose. “That should do him good and give him a boost. Of course, there’s a lot more to it than that. What’s important is that he sticks with it and that I keep trusting him. Just like today. Today was a win-win situation.” said Rose.

The Leipzig record goalscorer is assured of support from the coach and the team. “You could tell that it wasn’t easy for him. That made it all the more important not to let himself down. He kept working, stayed calm and always pushed the team. He never let himself down,” said Kampl. Werner’s class is undisputed. “Timo has qualities that not every player has. And we depend on these qualities over the course of the season. He will play his games again from the start,” said Kampl.

Now it’s Leipzig against Wiesbaden

By the way, Werner wasn’t the match winner for his team for the first time at Borussia Park. Four years ago he led RB Leipzig to a 3-1 win against Gladbach with a hat-trick and was then celebrated extensively. Rose probably also liked the fact that he didn’t speak publicly this time. “It’s important that he handles the situation correctly,” said the coach. Leipzig’s coach explained that he substituted him knowing his strengths. “It was a hard-earned victory and I am very happy with how we are dealing with this situation,” said Rose after a busy week in England with a successful debut in the Champions League with a 3-1 win against Young Boys Bern.

Kampl said it wasn’t surprising that not everything was right after this week. And you won’t underestimate your next opponent either. “The cup game at SV Wehen Wiesbaden on Wednesday will also be a difficult game,” warned Kampl. Then maybe with Timo Werner in the starting line-up again.
