Before we move on to the future, a quick look into the past: about the height of the new Netflix series 3 body problem by David Benioff and DB Weiss, you have to realize once again what an unlikely success the two showrunners have achieved game of Thrones (GoT): The novels consisted of 5,000 pages full of intrigue in dozens of parallel storylines in countless locations from the ice desert to the Mediterranean sandcastle. All of this with a web of characters and their relationships to each other that is completely impenetrable even for the author. At least George RR Martin once described his condition while working on the sixth book, which has not yet been published, as “quixotic”, in reference to Don Quixote, the hero of Miguel de Cervantes’ novel, who lost his mind because of all the chivalric novels. Because, as the saying goes, his brain dried up. But more on that later.
