Zaporizhia nuclear power plant attacked by drones? …

Russia said on Sunday that Ukrainian drones had attacked the territory of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia which it has occupied for two years, one of the devices having exploded, according to Moscow, above one of the reactors. “The Ukrainian armed forces attacked the dome of reactor No. 6 of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant,” the management of the plant installed by Russia since it took control of it said on social networks. She added that the radiation level was normal.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for its part indicated on X that its experts had confirmed “the physical impacts of drone attacks at the plant (…) on Sunday, including on one of its six reactors”, without attributing them by name to Ukraine.

China, which presents itself as a neutral party in the conflict in Ukraine but which has become Russia’s main economic partner for two years, advocates a political settlement to end the fighting.

The head of Russian diplomacy Sergei Lavrov begins a two-day official visit to China this Monday. He is due to meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi there. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement, the two leaders “will discuss a wide range of issues relating to bilateral cooperation, as well as cooperation in the international arena.”
