World/stage salon with theater makers from South Africa and Iran in the Residenztheater – Munich

In the summer, the Residenztheater had a small, uncomplicated festival, the “Welt/Bühne”. There were international theater professionals to experience, very directly, very close. They were all in Munich for residencies lasting several months. In the smaller “World/Stage Salons” the Residenztheater introduces new guests to the program. The evenings are small showcases, enriching in their diversity.

In January, the Residenztheater organizes two evenings: On Thursday, January 18th, the South African theater maker, writer and poet Koleka Putuma comes to the Marstall Café. She deals with political issues, with the history of her country as well as with being a woman, homophobia and racism. Her volume of poetry “Collective Amnesia”, which was very successful in South Africa, was also published in Germany, a political and experimental book.

A week later, on January 25th, Pooyan Bagherzadeh is a guest at Schöne Blick. The playwright and director from Tehran wrote his play “The Son of This Mother / The Mother of This Boy (Family)” about the history of Iran during his stay in Munich; excerpts from it will be read by ensemble members.
