The mask is part of the Christmas festivities. While we thought it had disappeared, put away after the successive waves of Covid which were spaced out due to the vaccination of a large part of the French population, the piece of blue fabric which accompanied our daily life for many months could ‘show again on faces. “For the holidays, we really need to respect barrier gestures, wear masks around vulnerable people, especially when we have symptoms or when we have contact“, explained in particular to BFMTV the president of the health risk monitoring and anticipation committee Brigitte Autran.
The peak of the flu has not yet passed
Beyond Covid which is regaining ground in France, the flu is also back this winter. If some French people surveyed by BFMTV recognized that they were taking preventive measures against the transmission of diseases or that they would be tested during their New Year’s Eve, others admitted that “with family“, they tended to pay less attention to barrier gestures.
The eastern half of France is however placed on epidemic alert for the flu. Regarding bronchiolitis, the entire French territory is concerned. “It is indeed the superposition of these pathologies with possibly co-infections which can worsen the situation in clinics.“, explained epidemiologist Mircea Sofoena. The peak of bronchiolitis has passed but that of the flu is far from over.
