Why these turtles are gold with a shell around

They drooled over the Ninja Turtles before experiencing an adaptation as inspired as Ninja Turtles Teenage Years by Jeff Rowe and Kyler Spears. This animated film discovered this year at the Annecy Festival, is undoubtedly one of the best adaptations of the comic books created and self-published by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman in 1984.

A great concept

From 1987 to 1996, the Ninja Turtles were illustrated in a series of cartoons while a cinema version in live action was born in 1990 before being the subject of several sequels. It was acclaimed in particular thanks to the Jim Henson’s Creatures Shopstudio creator of the Muppets Show and of Dark Crystal, which gave life to the heroes. Various variations will follow with the attempt to create a “girl turtle”, Venus, in 1997, quickly abandoned because it is too artificial to be incorporated into the saga.

“This triumph comes from a brilliant concept: mutant turtles, ninjas and teenagers united in characters”, explains Jeff Rowe, co-director of Ninja Turtles Teenage Years To 20 minutes. If the choice has often been made to make the saga more childish, this feature film gives a darker side to the adventures of the four warrior brothers while remaining accessible to young audiences. The heroes have never been so endearing than in these adventures where they question their place in society.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles really are gold with a shell around them! And this beautiful new film with ambitious graphics is well made to last.
