“Who wants to be a millionaire?”
Günther Jauch is being made fun of by his team – is he the “Sexiest Man Alive”?
Despite all the humor, Günther Jauch probably didn’t expect this: in the episode of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” on Monday evening, the moderator himself became a possible answer. The studio audience had fun.
That was something completely new: On Monday evening the moderator appeared Günther Jauch himself on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” (WWM) as an answer to a question. Jauch wanted to know from his candidate, the flight attendant Jennifer Metz, in the 8,000 euro question: “There were confused looks and cautious applause at an awards ceremony in 2024 when what was announced?” While reading out the answers, Jauch paused for a moment when his own name came up. The options were: “A: Wild Animal of the Year: Hedgehog, B: World Footballer: Messi, C: Best Director: Emmerich or D: Sexiest Man Alive: Jauch”? Had he missed something?
Of course, the studio audience loved the joke at the presenter’s expense. Jauch, on the other hand, appeared to be a little upset about the possible answer: “Who allowed that?” he asked the group hypocritically and grinning mischievously. On the other hand, he seemed to have been a little flattered by his team’s joke, because his follow-up question was: “Could we please take a screenshot of this?”
But that wasn’t enough, candidate Jennifer Metz also took a dig at the moderator. “I can rule out an answer straight away,” she explained. After she took a 50/50 joker, Messi and Jauch remained as possible answers. The selection was quite easy for Metz, despite Günther Jauch’s attempts at distraction. “Mr. Jauch, I’m speechless. I have to take answer B. Please forgive me,” said Metz. In fact, that was the right answer; there was a lot of discussion in January about Lionel Messi’s re-election as world footballer (you can read more about it here). For Jennifer Metz, the question was far from over. The flight attendant from Berlin went home with 32,000 euros.
