Where you can go out for a fine and comparatively cheap meal in Munich at Easter – Munich

From time to time, readers complain that this column and the Sample often recommends pubs and restaurants that normal Munich residents can hardly afford. That’s not entirely wrong. But it’s not the fault of the authors, but rather the fact that the price level in a rich city like Munich isn’t exactly low, even in the catering industry. This is also completely independent of low or high VAT rates, by the way. There are of course exceptions. There is this, for example Culinary on the Schwanthalerhöhe, which often offers excellent cuisine at reasonable prices. Now for example with the cultural days the Old Westend Pharmacy, which offer a colorful program from art to cuisine until Easter Monday. It starts next Wednesday, March 27th, with one “Wild Lunch” (15 euro). From 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. there will be a wild plant salad for lunch and, if desired, a wild plant walk through the Bavaria Park with the wild plant advisor Ola Klöckner. The kitchen trio from cooks on Maundy Thursday Tricycle Cuisine at 8 p.m. his version of the Last Supper with a “sharing menu” (53.16 euros per person, 74.21 euros with wine). This will follow on Saturday, March 30th at 8 p.m Culinary with a Easter menu (90 euros), and on Easter Monday, April 1st, 11 a.m., the cultural days close with a celebratory Easter brunch (25.79 euros). (Culture days in the Alte Westend Apotheke, Ligsalzstraße 12, Friday, March 22nd to Monday, April 1st, various events, www.alte-westend-apotheke.de).

A restaurant that deals with saving food is still an insider tip: this Community Kitchen in Neuperlach, which has already received numerous awards for its work. There you cook with ingredients that would otherwise spoil and are left over in supermarkets, for example. And at prices that are truly unrivalled. During the week there are two different daily specials to choose from at lunchtime from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (7.50 euros each, small salad 3.20 euros, cake 3.20 euros). The large one is also very well received Sunday brunch with various buffets at a standard price of twelve euros. It also takes place this weekend, except that it is canceled on Easter Sunday because of the public holiday. But you can go to Westend for brunch on Easter Monday (Community Kitchen, Fritz-Schäffler-Straße 9, Sunday brunch, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., per person without drinks 12 euros, www.community-kitchen.com).
