How did the racist far-right weekly end up on the set of “Star Academy”, a show watched on Saturday evening by more than 4 million viewers?
Big hiccup Saturday evening on the set of the final of “Star Academy”, the telecrochet show broadcast live on TF1. During one of candidate Julien’s performances, in a duet with Patrick Fiori to perform his flagship title That you come backInternet users noticed that one of the newspapers used by the dancers in the background was none other than the far-right weekly Rivarol. A racist and anti-Semitic publication therefore benefited from unprecedented exposure in a program seen that evening by more than four million viewers. How Rivarol did it end up in the hands of the dancers in the background? When contacted, neither the show’s production company, DMLS TV, nor TF1 have, for the moment, responded to requests from Libé.
Endemol, which co-produces the show, reacted in a press release published on Twitter: “We regret and strongly condemn that a propaganda newspaper, in complete opposition to the values of the Star Academy, appeared in a painting last night during the final.” Before apologizing, the group indicates that it is “investigating to understand” how the newspaper ended up on the set of the show, and claims that “the necessary sanctions will be taken accordingly.”
